Thiafoura: from theory to practice in the Living Lab garden
A training that does not stop at the classroom door. On 20 and 21 August 2026, CREATES held two days of training on agroforestry and agricultural land layout, in the heart of the community garden of the Thiafoura Living Lab. The training brought together the garden’s various actors, producers from Thiafoura, and women and young people from the community.

Building capacity for a garden that lasts
The aim: to strengthen the capacities of local actors and help them master agroecological practices, so that the community garden can be managed in a way that is both sustainable and productive.
But there was no question of staying in theory alone. After the discussions and the teaching, participants moved to practice, directly in the field.

What was put into practice
Plot layout, agroforestry techniques, sustainable soil and water management, erosion control, and the valuing of natural resources: all of these were tested and implemented collectively.
Through this participatory approach, everyone brings their own experience, shares their knowledge and contributes to finding solutions suited to the realities and needs of the Thiafoura community.

A space for experimentation and innovation
Beyond a simple training, the Living Lab becomes a genuine space for experimentation, learning and innovation, where forms of knowledge meet and agroecological practices come to life. In Thiafoura, the agroecological transition is built together, as close to the ground as possible and with local actors.
Together, let us make the Thiafoura Living Lab garden a space for learning, innovation and agroecological transition.
